  1. I think that the significance of the disguises within the novel are very significant! without these Edmond Dantes would have never been able to pull off his revenge plots. I think that Dumas is saying that in order to fulfill your dreams and future plans you have to be able to play your character, and you may just have to switch who you are to acomplish it.

  6. Each disguise that he takes shows a different aspect of his personality. The priest disguise is his religious character, Monte Cristo is his revengeful character. Sinbad and the man from Thompson and French are his caring personality.

  7. I think Dumas is making his point about how Dantes needs to get his revenge on all of his enemies. They all think he is dead and he plans on keeping it that way. Through these disguises he acts as the karma each one of these men deserve. Dantes cant give revenge, but Monte Cristo, Sinbad, and Abbe can act as thier karma and get exact revenge.

  8. Dumas is definitely showing the versatility of Dantes. Not only does it show he has the means to acquire his revenge, but also the desire. He would do anything possible, whether it be impersonation or any other possibility conceivable. Nothing will stop him... not even an inability to be somebody else

  9. Dantes uses multiple aliases to stay hidden because he escaped jail. These disguises all are perfect for the specific situations he is in. The abbe works perfect with Caderousse. This shows that Dantes is capable of finding the revenge he seeks.

  10. Disgiuse is key in Dantes revenge plan. If people recognized him they wouldn't have fallen into his trap. Dumas is saying that many people can pretend to be rich and famous but are actually frauds

  11. Dantes's revenge is very elaborate and uses all sorts of disguises, the theme of disguise is showing that Dantes himself does not even know who he is anymore. he has delved so far into his revenge that he has lost the true meaning of his own personality.

  12. Disguises in the Count of Monte Cristo are very important. they represent often a change in the personality of the characters. the disguises reflect changes that they have undergone or different aspects of their personality. The identity of the Count of Monte Cristo for example shows Dantes' change from before his time in prison to after, after he had been transformed.

  13. In this novel, I believe that the idea of "disguise" plays a very prominent place, andf the reason that is receives such a prominent place is because Dumas felt that either the government of his time or people he knew were disguising themselves to him, which still happens often today, both in the case of governments and people.
