The situation mirrors the Dantes situation in the sense that they are both betrayed by people they thought to be their friends in Madame Villefort and obviously all of Dantes enemies. They both are saved in the end and go on to live happy lives.

They both are very similar in their love lives. Dantes was going to marry Mercedes but then he was sent to jail. Valentine was going to marry someone else, but then married Maximilien. The results of their love lives were oppossite. Dantes did not get the woman he loved, and Valentine did.
Valentine is being betrayed by someone close to her,just as Dantes was betrayed by people close to him. They both did not know why or by whom they were being betrayed by until it was too late.
